Meet Our Founders

Rafael (Rafi) Epstein

Co-Founder, CEO

Prior to founding StrataVAR, Rafi served as Founder and President of Netformx where he designed the ITC industry’s first automated network design software solution, which he named DesignXpert. Rafi led a team of over 100 employees based in Tel Aviv and San Jose to market leadership and an eventual equity sale to a private equity firm in 2010. After this event, he returned to his home country, Israel, where he began his career years ago as a leader in mission critical programs in software development for the Israeli Defense Force; and attained the role as Head of the Computer Department in telecommunications.

No stranger to start ups, Rafi has also launched several other successful start ups which were later sold to larger companies. He presently serves as a Board Member for several companies based in Israel. Known to many as a true industry visionary, Rafi works tirelessly to develop cutting edge solutions to meet evolving real world business needs. After his first visit to SFDC Dreamforce in 2010, Rafi envisioned solutions such as those presently offered by StrataVAR.

Michael Lakin

Co-Founder, Sr. VP Sales & Marketing

Prior to launching StrataVAR, Michael served as Netformx VP of Sales and fostered strategic partnerships with Cisco, HP, ALU, Brocade, Riverbed and Juniper. His vision and effort resulted in a doubling of the Company’s total annual software license revenue from 2009 to 2012 and market expansion from 95% N. America revenue to 70%. Most notable was Michael’s leadership role in expanding the Cisco and Cisco Channel Partnerships that represented nearly 80% of total revenue. Michael credits the young and ambitious sales team he hired and managed for this success.

Born to sell, Michael was first in class in IBM Sales School in 1980, after graduating William & Mary with a B.S. Degree in Biology Science. He is very passionate about building lasting relationship with his customers and has spent most of the last ten years developing deep relationships within the Cisco ecosystem. StrataVAR represents the culmination of many years of research into finding solutions for Cisco Partners that have a meaningful impact on margin and profitability.
